NEW MOREDON COMMUNITY TEA BAR

The New Community Tea Bar is going to open at 10am on Friday 22nd March 2013, in St Andrews Methodist Church, Moredon Road, Moredon, Swindon.

The Community Tea bar is going to provide a warm environment where people can go for a cup of tea or coffee in a safe and friendly atmosphere. Over the past 9 years after being diagnosed with one illness after another, I slowly found that I was no longer able to do the things I took for granted. As the years passed by, our friends slowly disappeared, we got out less and less and I withdrew into myself. I began wondering how many other people were like myself stuck indoors. I spoke to my practice nurse and was surprised at the number of people there are in Swindon in the same situation as me. I came up with an idea of a tea bar, somewhere people like me could go and get used to the idea of getting out again after many years stuck indoors. I then spent the next 18months looking for somewhere to open the tea bar. I started going back to church and eventually plucked up the courage to ask the minister about the cost of using the church hall. Once conversation led to another and the church agreed to with their help open a free community tea bar. I can supply futher details in the form of a handout which has been sent to every GP Practice in Swindon. The Councils Health Ambassadors have shown an interest also PALS Swindon North District Health Centre. I am trying to get the word out into the Swindon Community and wondered if you could possibly help. Sorry I have difficulty with talking on a telephone, part of my illness.

Swindon Croquet Club, in conjunction with Challenge Swindon, are running a course for beginners to understand and learn to play Golf and Association Croquet. This is a good chance to try a sport that can be a fun social game with friends on a sunny summer's day, or a challenging competition which can be played to international level. No experience is necessary, full training and all equipment are provided.
