  Every year since I could remember, during the school holidays I stayed with my uncle Viv' and Auntie Win' Iles(that's India-Lima-Echo- Sierra) on their farm at "Lower Tadpole" near to where the Swindon &amp; Cricklade Railway now operates from. Of course the house long since demolished and the land now built on as part of the "Northern Expansion."

  Purton residents turned out in force on Saturday 30 October to assist with the filling of shoe-boxes as part of this year's Operation Christmas Child appeal.
  This year's target was to fill 300 shoe-boxes. Sylvia Freemantle has co-ordinated the village's efforts throughout the year, both in terms of raising the necessary funds and preparing the
  shoe-boxes for despatch. She said "Not only is it a good cause, but we all had great fun as well."
