St Augustine's Church in Summers Street is hosting two concerts later this year which will see the church come alive with two very different styles of music.
Firstly on Saturday 9th April 2011 at 7.30pm, the Wessex Male Choir will be giving a concert to support Help for Heroes – a very worthwhile charity which helps wounded soldiers on their return to this country to help them cope with their injuries. Secondly, on Wednesday 18th May 2011 at 7.30 pm, Professor Dr Ian Tracey (Liverpool Anglican Cathedral Organist) is coming to give another recital on the organ. This day is very special as it is the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the original pipe organ. This is a very informal evening, with Ian giving his usual light-hearted commentary about the music, as well as making the church alive with the wonderful sound of the organ.
Further details of both concerts will be available soon on the church website www.staugustines-swindon.co.uk Based on information supplied by St Augustine's Church.
