Swindon Borough Council will be carrying out flood relief works on several approach roads to the village. The work entails replacing road culverts to improve surface water drainage. The works will be on Highworth Road and Old Vicarage Lane.
The works on Old Vicarage Lane between the Carpenters Arms and the railway bridge is scheduled to start on the 22nd of November and take 2 weeks.
Following discussions it has been decided to close Old Vicarage Lane at it's junction with the A420 for the duration of the work. Diversion signs will be in place.
The Carpenters Arms will still be open but access will be via the Sainsburys roundabout or Highworth Road.
It is not expected that Highworth Road will be closed but there will be traffic management in place.
Hopefully this long awaited work will lead to improvements to road flooding along these roads.
The Project Manager for the works at SBC is Liz Baldwin who can be contacted on 01793 466652 Mob: 07769281757 for further information.
