Scouts DIY at B&Q

18th Swindon Scouts based in Old Town are attending B&Q to participate in the DIY training that is provided free of charge by B&Q. They will be there on Feb 1st and Feb 8th between 630pm and 8pm, other members of the Troop have attended during the previous 2 weeks. Altogether more than 40 Scouts from the 18th will have attended the 4 weeks (1 week each) Based on information supplied by Phil Clarke.

Following the huge success of the 2011 campaign which saw Slimming World members throughout the UK and Ireland lose a staggering 3,876,146lbs (270,439 stone!), we’re encouraging the people of Swindon to join our community weight loss campaign again in 2012. You’ll already be aware that obesity is one of the greatest issues facing the UK and Ireland today, and our area is no exception: in Wiltshire obesity rates are soaring. This is bad news for our whole community. First and foremost, it means personal unhappiness, low self esteem and increased risk of weight-related illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer for all of those people struggling to manage their weight. It affects families, schools, and of course it puts pressure on our local GPs, hospitals and on employers in terms of lost working days.

SWAP (Swindon Walcot and Parks Community Group) would like to invite local residents to join them in the planning and running of a Jubilee / Olympic Games celebration on Buckhurst Field during the June half term break. This will be one of the items on the agenda at their next meeting on Friday January 27th at the Buckhurst Community Centre, Burghley Close, Walcot (formerly Walcot Dome Community Centre) starting at 7 p.m. Refreshments provided. Swindon Walcot and Parks Community Group Monthly Meeting

Swindon Walcot and Parks Community Group's monthly meeting will take place at the Walcot Dome Community Centre on Friday 25th November starting at 7 p.m. As this will be our last meeting before Christmas we will be making the final arrangements for our two Christmas parties. The first is for older local residents who will be alone at Christmas and the other for any children in the area who will not have much fun over the Christmas holidays. All East Walcot and Parks residents are welcome to attend and refreshments are provided.
