Great clothes, shame about the film

Sexy. Intense. Intelligent. The storyline of Sex and The City 2 hardly fits this criteria. But the haute couture does.

Stunning combinations and chunky, glittering jewellery, fabulous dresses, bespoke hats, swimwear and the odd Christian Louboutin shoe were on offer, displayed on toned, chic women.

There couldn’t have been an angle for the sequel that involved more opportunity for escapade and adventure than a menopausal girls’ holiday.

And with a sneaky rendezvous with an ex, karaoke and a camel ride through the desert complete with shirtless heart throb, some would say it satisfied.

But did it really suspend our belief and take us to another world? Maybe it’s not that type of film.

Saying all this, the producer and director hit the right note with costume and banter – arguably what we go to the cinema for.

Who expects a complicated, on-the-edge-of-your-seat movie from a fashion-themed chick-flick anyway?
