On Tuesday 31st of January, pupils of Peatmoor Community Primary School went out on a litter pick around their local environment.
The Year 5 class were accompanied by: the mayor of Swindon Ray Ballman, Ryan and Chris who are the recycling men, Roger Ogle the editor of the link magazine. Ryan and Chris kindly donated: litter pickers, bin bags and high visibility jackets They set of around the lagoon picking up rubbish such as: glass bottles, plastic bottles, crisp packets, a full pack of Yakut, chocolate wrappers and plastic bags. The children were so surprised how much litter was around when there are litter bins all over the place.
A pupil from year 5 commented, “I enjoyed the litter pick a lot because we were making a difference to our local environment, I was also surprised at how much litter was around as there are litter bins around.
On the way back the owner of the fish and chip shop Ali Memmet offered the school party a battered sausage and chips.
The litter pick was a great success every one enjoyed it.
