SHOP windows have been smashed with airgun bullets.

Air rifle and ball bearing gunshots have been fired during several incidents in the Stratton area of Swindon this month.

The shootings, mainly at the windows of businesses, have taken place in Ermin Street, Grange Drive and Highworth Road The most recent shooting was on Tuesday evening.

Police investigating the criminal damage believe the shootings are random and are appealing for help in tracking down the culprits.

Acting Sgt Caroline Cook said: "During May there have been a number of incidents where windows to commercial premises have been damaged in Ermin Street, Grange Drive and Highworth Road.

"It is believed an air weapon or BBgun was used as the damage appears to be small pellet holes.

"Stratton police would like to appeal to anyone with any information to come forward."
