10 THINGS TO DO IN AND AROUND SWINDON THIS WEEKEND

1. The Royal British Legion's third annual Run2Remember event takes place on Saturday from 11am at Lydiard Park. You can take part in the 11km, 5km or 1.1km fun run and the money you raise in sponsorship will support the Legion’s work helping today’s brave injured Service men and women. 2. The Gig to Remember will bring the world's most acclaimed Beatles band The Bootleg Beatles to Swindon for the very first time. Also on the bill for the event, which will raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK, are YouTube sensations and Cheltenham natives, Duke. The event takes place at the Oasis on Saturday night from 6.30pm.

3. Halloween themed Bonfire Night at Purton House Organics from 4pm to 8pm on Saturday. The family event will include fireworks, apple bobbing, pumpkins, children's activities and a giant bonfire. Admission is free. Call 01793 772287 or email info@purtonhouseorganics.co.uk.

4. Field of Remembrance, Lydiard Park, is now open daily from 9am to 4pm until November 16. The Field of Remembrance pays tribute to all the service men and women who have lost their lives serving in Afghanistan.

5. A Charity Fashion Show and Shopping Event at Mercure Hotel in South Marston, on Sunday from 7pm. The event will raise funds for Children with Cancer UK and Crowdys Hill School. Tickets are £10. Email sassrose@btinternet.com or call 01793 534299.

6: Champions of Magic, which includes five world class, award winning entertainers performing everythign from stage filling illusions to magic in the palm of your hand, will be at the Wyvern on Sunday from 7.30pm. Tickets are £21. Call 01793 524481. 

7. A special Remembrance Day Drumhead Service and Roll Call will take place at STEAM from 3pm on Sunday.  The service is organised by the Friends of Swindon Railway Museum and will be held alongside the war memorials that are on permanent display inside the Museum. Doors open at 2.15pm and the service begins at 3pm. There is no charge for admission to the Remembrance Sunday Service.

8. The Kirsty Farrow Dance Academy will present Our Year In Dance; a journey through the year, capturing the joyous moments we all celebrate in a variety of vibrant dances of all genres, danced by children of all ages. The show will be at the Wyvern on Saturday from 7.30pm. Tickets are £12 or £10 for children. Call 01793 524481.

9. A Christmas Craft Fayre takes place at Holy Trinity Church in Shaw Village Centre on Saturday from 10.30am to 1.30pm. As well as lots of gifts for Christmas, there will be refreshments, games and face painting. Email grdocommittee@gmail.com.

10. Admire the autumn colours in the woodlands at Lydiard Park on Saturday and Sunday from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. Meet at the patio near the visitor centre. Entry is £3. Call 01793 466664.
