10 THINGS TO DO IN AND AROUND SWINDON THIS WEEKEND

1. Make sure you check out the town's festive market in Canal Walk, which runs from 9am to 5pm until December 21. 

2. The Coca-Cola truck will be in Wharf Green on Saturday from 1pm to 9pm. You can have your photo take next to the truck from the legendary advert and the area will be transformed into a snowy winter wonderland. A choir will also be there singing carols. 

3. Join Sustrans at Lydiard Park for Cycling Santas & Reindeer Riders on Sunday from 10.30am to 1pm. Pick up your outfit and decorate your bike or scooter for the gentle route around the park. Entry is £3 for adults and £2 for children. All tickets include a Santa outfit for adults, reindeer antlers for children and a hot drink plus a choice of chocolate log or mince pie for everyone.

4. A Wartime Christmas - Join the Bolingbrokes for a tour of Lydiard House with the rooms decorated for this first Wartime Christmas, just as it was in 1914. Hear about the origins of the Christmas traditions, from trees, cards and crackers to gift giving and parlour games. Entry is £6 for adults and £4.50 for children. Tours run from 12pm to 3pm and last approximately 30 minutes. Book this event on 01793 465277.

5. Ray Dance and Judith Sharp present Irving Berlin's White Christmas at the Arts Centre, with matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday at 2.30pm and evening performances at 7.30pm. Tickets are £11/ £10. Call 01793 524481.

8. Take a steam train ride and meet Santa in his grotto with the Swindon and Cricklade Railway Santa Specials. Trains run from 11am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are £7 for adults, £10 for children including a gift.

10. Santa Dash in aid of Prospect Hospice, Thamesdown Hydrotherapy Pool and Swindon Women's Aid, at Coate Water at 11am.
