Situation

Warminster has a good range of shopping and day to day facilities. The historic
cathedral cities of Bath and Salisbury are both within easy driving distance with a
much wider selection of social and recreational amenities and excellent shopping
centres.
This area has become particularly sought after because of the exceptional number
of good schools at all levels including Warminster School, Marlborough College, St
Mary's Calne, Port Regis and Dauntsey's as well as the schools in Salisbury and Bath.
Communications are excellent with the A303/M3 (about 9 miles) providing good
access to London and the west country. Mainline rail services run from Westbury and
Chippenham to London, Paddington and from Salisbury to London, Waterloo.

Description

- White Lodge is a spacious family home set on the edge of Warminster with rural views to the front of the house over towards Arn Hill Down on the edge of Salisbury Plain.
- The house dates from the 1930's and has retained a wealth of period features including fireplaces, original doors and wooden floors.
- Generous reception hall.
- Drawing room and dining room both with open fireplaces. The drawing room leads through to the garden room which opens onto the rear terrace.
- Kitchen with a good range of fitted units, central island and archway through to study area.
- Wide curved staircase leading up to the first floor through the 'turret' with feature arched windows.
- Master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, three further bedrooms on the first floor, family bathroom and separate shower room.
- Delightful south facing private gardens to the rear of the house which are mainly laid to lawn with mature trees and shrubs.
- Ample parking to the front of the house.
- White Lodge is currently run as an AA rated four star B&B. The accommodation has been altered over the years to aid the B&B business but could easily be converted to provide five bedrooms on the first floor and a large kitchen/breakfast room on the ground floor.

White Lodge was built by local builders W.E Chivers & Sons of Devizes for a Mr Hall who owned a paint factory in Warminster. Today, there is still a row of houses near the site of the paint factory called Halls Terrace. In addition, White Lodge was painted brown during the war.
