Get Hygge with it!
As the temperature drops and the hours of daylight dwindle, it’s time to make like the Danish and bring a little Hygge into your life. According the UN, Denmark is the happiest nation on earth and it has held this quirky accolade for over 40 years. So, what makes their nation so happy and contented? In one word, Hygge.
Hygge, (pronounced, hoo-gah) is the Danish practice of “making cosy”. The Danes look forward to the long winter months, because it’s a time to cosy up and spend with family and friends. Just as they have a set of winter tyres for their car, so they also have a set of winter cushions, throws and accessories to hygge their homes. Picture roaring fires, hard floors covered by sheepskin rugs, warm crochet blankets thrown over the sofa, candle light and lots of good food shared over a large table with extended family, friends and neighbours. Sounds like time to bring Hygge to Wiltshire…
