A DRUG den, supplying Swindon with £10,000 worth of illegal substances every week, has been raided by police.
Officers stormed the address in Broad Street, believed to be a hive of dealing activity, on Thursday evening.
After breaking through the door of the property three occupants were searched.
Two of the people inside were thought to be smoking crack or heroin, from a piece of aluminium foil when they were surprised by officers.
Two men, believed to be large-scale traffickers from London, delivering regular packages of heroin and cocaine to the Broad Street area, entered the front door of the flat as police were searching inside.
The men fled. Officers gave chase and one was stopped, but the second man got away with the delivery of drugs.
The Broad Street raid was the second warrant served by town centre officers on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, police searched an address in Saltash Road, and discovered a haul of cocaine, cannabis and cash.
Four plastic wrapped packages, containing powdered cocaine, powdered heroin and crack cocaine rocks were found.
Police said it had a street value of more than £2,000.
Sgt Scott Hargreave said the raids would have a positive effect on the supply of drugs in the town centre.
"As a result of information from the community we have identified two addresses where we believe a group of London-based drug dealers operate in supplying heroin and cocaine," he said.
"Drugs have been identified as one of the main concerns of people in Broadgreen, and part of the reason we are taking proactive response.
"We have identified two addresses believed to have been involved in the supply of class A drugs and recovered a good amount of powdered cocaine, heroin and crack cocaine and cash.
"These properties could have been seeing £10,000 of dealing a week.
"As a result of the day's warrants, two people were arrested in Saltash Road on suspicion of supplying class A drugs and drugs and cash were recovered.
"Three people were detained from the Broadgreen address for drug offences. One of the males from the address was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
"Two males believed to have been supplying drugs to the address were identified."
l POLICE in east Swindon have also warned drug dealers to expect a visit.
In a dawn raid, officers searched a flat earlier this week, which was believed to have been associated with drug dealers.
Wiltshire Police's Chief Constable Brian Moore even took part in the raid.
Mr Moore said the force was sending a strong message out to the town's dealers.
