THE Second Swindon Santa Dash in aid of the Prospect Hospice will be held this Sunday, December 7.
At 9.30am, runners will set out from outside the Wyvern Theatre to cover two laps of a 2.5km town centre course, dressed as Father Christmas.
Two mystery guests from Swindon Town Football Club will be there to wave the runners off.
Last year’s inaugural race saw around 70 runners turn out despite bad weather, and the organisers are hoping for an even bigger field this year.
The organisers are the North Wilts Hash House Harriers, a “small, family based” club which is described as “a drinking club with a running problem” and meets every Sunday.
The dash is sponsored by local companies The Big Adventure Store and Wilkinsons, and supported by the Wyvern Theatre, Active Swindon, Brunel FM and St John Ambulance, while the Savoy pub is offering 20 per cent off breakfasts for all dashing Santas.
Race spokesman Roger Sommerville said: “This year we’re hoping for even more Santas to take part in the event.
“The Prospect Hospice is an excellent local cause, and we chose it because so many people across the area have been helped - or had their loved ones helped - by it.”
Entry costs £6, and registration will be possible right up until the start of the race itself.
