SWINDON Town players swapped their football boots for running shoes to help launch the British Heart Foundation’s Hearts First Jog at Lydiard Park.
The charity, which is one of the frontrunners in the battle against heart and circulatory disease, said it was pleased to have the Robins in the race.
At the County Ground launch event, organiser Andrew Coles was delighted with how the morning went and the performance of the squad.
He said: “It’s great having the local side on board. Footballers generally live healthy lifestyles and can set the example to others that exercise can help keep your heart healthy.”
The event starts at 11am on February 15 and runners should be prepared to tackle grass, mud and gravel as they pass through the woodland around Lydiard Park.
You do not have to be a footballer to take part. The event it is open to all participants of all ages, whether you do the 3km, 6km or 9km route, although children must be accompanied by adults.
Speaking of the launch at the County Ground, Town player Hasney Aljofree said: “People of all ages can be victims of heart disease.
“By keeping fit and leading a healthy lifestyle, you can protect your heart, so why not join hundreds of people at this jog?”
You can register now at a cost of £10 for adults and £5 for under-16s. All sponsorship money will help save lives in Wiltshire.
