The Butcher Boy: A brutally good read

Well, there you go. As predicted, I've done largely little for the past day or so except read. Now I feel a bit shell-shocked, but I suspect The Butcher Boy by Patrick McCabe has that effect on most people who read it.

Balancing up a good read

Does anyone else have reading phases and non-reading phases? Having spent the past couple of months so addicted to reading I've been carrying a novel around with me at all times - just in case the conversation lapses and I get the chance to pound through a few paragraphs - I've hit a dry patch.
