Trudging...but in a good way

IT'S taken me a few days but I've finally decided what book I am going to sit down and read next.

You'll know from my last blog entry that I've been left feeling disappointed by the last two novels I've picked up, and I wanted my next read to be something that grabbed my attention.

So, having watched and enjoyed the recent BBC adaptation of Tess of teh D'Urbervilles, I thought I would see if Thomas Hardy and his tale of the Wessex dairy maid could enthrall me.

And so far I'm completely hooked.

Having watched the programme I was in love with Angel Clare - although my friend has told me I'm an idiot and I shouldn't be. Apparently I'll be cursing him and his actions by the end of the book. But we'll see.

I'm about a third of the way through (I only started at the beginning of the week - but it's been really hard to put it down at night when I'm supposed to be going to sleep!) and so far the one thing that has stood out is Tess does a lot of trudging.

Here's hoping I don't feel like I'm trudging through thick mud as I try to get to the end.

I'll keep you posted.

I read this book about 3 years ago, but can't really remember much apart it, apart from "The trudging, the baby, and the men who let her down :(
