This special relationship seems a bit one sided
And our politicians seem a bit misguided
If they think their buddies from over the sea
Really believe in the land of the free.
Christopher Columbus would surely turn in his grave
If he could see how Britain has become America’s slave
Our Government jumps when they demand it, only asking how high
And when the US needs them to, they are happy to lie.
When their Texan President calls our ex-PM to heel
It really shows us Brits how superior they feel
Independence Day is now celebrated in our schools
And our children love Halloween with their ghosts and ghouls.
Even our great game of football has become soccer now
And the 7th July becomes 7/7... somehow
Soon we’ll be taking our shopping home in a brown paper bag
And proving our Britishness by swearing allegiance to the flag.
So I only hope that we come to our senses one day
And our politicians have the guts to say
We have paid our dues for your help during the war
And we’re not prepared to be your lap dog anymore!
