Week 13 Weight: 12st 8lbs (80kg) Total weight lost: 2 stone 9.5lbs

IT’S now a matter of days until I parachute for Prospect Hospice.

Lots of things have changed in the past three months, but there is one thing that’s remained constant – the very real fear of failure. The fact of the matter is that I have not quite lost enough weight to know with complete certainty that Sunday’s scales will tip in my favour.

For me, this fear is my favourite source of motivation and inspiration. When there is a risk of failure, things get interesting, and any success is all the sweeter.

Losing the weight for Prospect Hospice made the challenge important – more was at stake as there was a possibility I would let down the people I was skydiving in memory of.

I think the fact that I was attempting something where failure was a possibility is what attracted food and fitness guru Ronny Terry to help me. Under his expert guidance, what I’ve learned will last me a lifetime, and that is far more valuable that winning or losing.

That is why whatever the scales say on Sunday morning, whether I manage to hurl myself out of that plane or not, I have set in place new targets and goals.

After all, I will move on from this moment in one fashion or another. As Ronny has constantly reminded me when I’ve been close to failure, life happens. It gets in the way of a perfect moment and you just have to be a little bit zen about it all.

But I’m still having fun, and that’s the most important thing.
