Cricklade Town Festival 2010

A Welcome!

Last year’s Around the World in 80 Days continued the innovative themes being adopted for the Cricklade Town Festival. This year’s free street fair theme of Cricklade by the Sea continues to push the boundaries of what is possible. One might well ask what connection has Cricklade to the sea? Well, other than the fact that we are the first town on the Thames, which ultimately flows to the sea, find out more by visiting the Historical Society stand, who plan to have a display of the Town’s connections to the sea.

Once again you can expect a High Street packed with stalls, entertainers, music and activities. This year sees the opportunity to buy Cricklade rock, ride a donkey, watch a Punch & Judy show, and see 1920s styled bathers roaming our streets.

The themes adopted for the festival have added a sense of fun to the day and more than a splash of colour. The banners up and down the High Street have consistently proved popular, with many local organisations and the schools contributing to this aspect of the festival. In addition there are the many floral displays throughout the Town, which add to the day’s enjoyment. This year also sees some 50 visitors, led by their Mayor, Daniel Chatellier, from our twin town Sucé-sur-Erdre. I know that they will be enjoying the festivities alongside the local community. Cricklade Town Council, along with a host of other sponsors, is once again delighted to support the event, which is a real focus for the Town and consistently helps bring the community together.

Many local organisations will be represented on the day and I would urge each and every one of you to come along, enjoy the fun and help make this yet another success for the local community.

I hope to see you all out on the High Street on Sunday 20th June!
