The centenary of the outbreak of the First World War is marked by an exhibition from Cricklade Art Group.

War Horse by Lyn White and We Shall Remember by Janet Fairman are two of the paintings on show alongside a special piece of work painted by Ron Holmes the founder of the group.

Ron painting will be presented to Coun Mark Clark, the chairman of Cricklade Town Council at the exhibition preview on October 24 as a gift to the people of Cricklade.

Ron founded the art group in 2006 and since then they have regular exhibitions of members’ paintings and sculptures in the Cricklade Town Hall and also at the Great Western Hospital in the Community Arts corridor. Four of those paintings have been sold with proceeds going to the hospital funds. They meet in the Town Hall annexe on the third Tuesday of each month.

There will be around 40 pieces of work commemorating the First World War at the free Town Hall exhibition, open to the public from 10am to 4pm, on Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26. For more details visit www.crickladeart.co.uk
