YOUNG people aren’t the only ones enjoying the Halloween period – staff at a wildlife park have been playing some tricks with treats on some cute inhabitants.

At the Cotswold Wildlife Park, the slender-tailed meerkats have been treated to some fun inside hollowed-out pumpkins as Halloween looms.

The section head of primates, Chris Kibbey, said the pumpkins presented a great opportunity for staff and the meerkats to have some fun.

“Pumpkins are great for providing enrichment for some of our animals,” said Chris.

“Hollowed out, we can hide mealworms or other favourite treats in them and the meerkats have a great time getting them out again.”

The Cotswold Wildlife Park, in Bradwell Grove, Burford, opens at 10am each day, and for those who can’t get there, the meerkats have their own webcam online at www.cotswoldwildlifepark.co.uk/ animals-and-gardens/meerkat-cam.htm.
