CAR enthusiasts are all geared up for the second Auto and Retro Festival at Lydiard Park this weekend.

More than 100 classic, vintage and super cars will be on display in front of Lydiard House on Saturday between 11am and 6pm as part of the festival, which has been organised at the Swindon Borough Council-owned park in conjunction with RMJ Top Events.

Among the cars on display will be a Marcos Mantula, a Jaguar E Type, a Porsche 911 and a Triumph Spitfire. The collection of cars will also feature a number of MGs and Volkswagens.

There will also be some car clubs attending including Six-Ex Mini Owners Club and the Cotswold Morris Minor Club.

Kat Dixon, who is managing the event, said: “Even if cars aren’t your thing there’s plenty going on to entertain with the retro hair salon, clothing stands and live performances from Swindon Swingout and Acoustic Jass. The food on offer is incredible and all tying in with a vintage theme. It promises to be a really lovely event and I can’t wait to see people enjoying it.”

As well as old classics, a range of modern cars from Swindon dealerships will also be on display including Ferrari, Maserati and Jaguar.

Music will be on the agenda throughout the day with Swingout Swindon performing in both the morning and afternoon, while they will also be offering a Lindy Hop dance taster class in the marquee.

Four piece traditional jazz band, Acoustic Jass will add further musical entertainment and there will be plenty of food available as well as a Pimms and champagne bar.

Coun Garry Perkins, Swindon Borough Council’s cabinet member responsible for Lydiard Park, said: “If you love cars then Lydiard really is the place to be on Saturday because our Auto and Retro Festival will have some stunning examples on display."

“We have really expanded the festival this year and we have cars from almost every era as well as a Retro focus which we hope will bring lots of fun for all the family.”

Traders will be selling vintage toys and retro household items, as well as hair braiding, face painting and vintage clothing on offer.
