MORE than 150 classic, vintage and performance cars will be on display in front of Lydiard House on Saturday.

The display will form part of the Lydiard Park Auto & Retro Festival, which is organised by Swindon Borough Council and RMJ Top Events.

Taking place between 10.30am and 4pm, the festival will see a vast range of vehicles on display from the 1930s to the 1990s, as well as the latest brand innovations with new vehicles from TH White, Fish Brothers and Johnsons.

Highlights this year will be a special display from the Porsche GB club, RS owners club and Wilts VW club. Individual enthusiasts will also bring along their cars including Jaguar E types, a Dodge Viper, AC Cobras and a Chevrolet Bel Air.

There will be something for everyone including retro rides, vintage vehicles, sports cars and even steam.

As well as old classics, a range of modern cars from the T H White group will be on display including Fiat 500X, Abarth Biposto Record, Alfa Romeo 4C Spider and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Music will be on the agenda throughout the day with vintage singer Lianna Haynes, while Swingout Swindon will perform in both the morning and afternoon and offer a taster Lindy Hop dance class in the marquee.

There will be plenty of food on offer from traditional fish and chips to vintage cupcakes and the opportunity to relax on the lawn at Lydiard House with a glass of Prosecco or a pint of delicious Circle Cider.

In keeping with the theme, traders will be selling vintage sweets, retro clothing and rockabilly inspired accessories. There will also be a vintage hair makeover area, archery, tea cup rides and kids’ electric go karts.

Coun Garry Perkins, Swindon Borough Council’s cabinet member responsible for Lydiard, said: “The Auto and Retro Festival is one of the highlights of the year at Lydiard and I’m sure it will once again draw in the crowds.

“We have some great cars on display and there will be plenty of activities for all the family to enjoy as well as music and dancing. It is the perfect start to the summer holidays.”
