THE Steam museum in Swindon is to get a steampunk makeover later this month as part of a weekend of events.
The Swindon STEAMpunk Spectacular will be staged from March 24 to 26.
Beginning with a cabaret welcome party on the Friday evening, there will be a lively mix of music, performances, art and trade stands.
There will also be a second evening of cabaret on the Saturday.
A museum spokesman said: “During the festival weekend, your senses will be turned upside down with a jam-packed programme of performances and surprises galore.
“Steam’s main exhibition areas will will be included as part of the festival, so you can get acquainted with awesome steam locomotives like No. 6000 King George V, No. 4073 Caerphilly Castle and No. 3717 City of Truro to name a few.
“There’s plenty to keep children entertained too, with Steam’s superb interactive activities like the train simulator and the working GWR Signal Box - terrific for budding steam train drivers.
“You can experience some fantastic creations, do your Steampunk shopping, enjoy some refreshments in the Steampunk Café and listen to a great line up of live music.”
Tickets start at £8.50 for adults, with separate tickets needed for the evening performances.
