THE BAKERS ARMS,

Badbury Tel: 01793 740313

WHO GOES THERE? Cut off from its small car park by the winding road from Chiseldon to Liddington, The Bakers Arms is probably as close as it is possible to get to the archetypal, down-to-earth, country local. A chimney breast divides the lounge from the public bar and adds much to the cosy atmosphere in what a CAMRA pub guide described us as “a bright, sparkling little pub”. The Bakers Arms has been made famous for its fish and chips by celebrity chef Brian Turner, who said they have the best in the south. They also have a whole menu of other dishes to choose from.

WHAT’S IT LIKE? Situated just off the A346 Swindon-Marlborough road, which is only a stone’s throw from Junction 15 of the M4, The Bakers Arms is an ideal meeting point. The pub is popular for family gatherings, Sunday lunch, quick lunches or an evening drink in the garden – or by the fire.

PRICES? The Arkell’s owned pub serves a whole range of drinks, including 3Bs for £3.10, Wiltshire Gold for £3.40, Carling for £3.50 and Coors Light for £3.60. A large glass of house wine is £4.50.
