The Beehive, 55 Prospect Hill, Old Town Tel: 01793 523187

WHAT’S IT LIKE?

The Beehive was recently revamped, opening up its bar area and bringing a touch of modernity and warmth visible the moment people step through the door. It offers a range of hard-to-find Scottish and English ales and prides itself in steering clear of mass-produced beers. The pub also hosts regular live music nights.

WHO GOES THERE?

An institution in the town, it attracts music lovers and locals looking for a relaxing time by the open fire. “It’s a social pub, with lots of conversation going around,” said barman Tim Carter. “We are happy-go-lucky. It’s a laidback place. We contribute on firework nights and we have our own display. Around Christmas time we have a tree hanging from the roof. And we always have music playing on the stereo.”
