Market manager Kardien Gerbrands talks about Swindon’s farmers’ markets

It’s going to be a bumper day of celebration at the Designer Outlet farmers’ market this Sunday as we mark an amazing 10 years of trading.

The stallholders, Outlet centre management and Fresh-n-local would like to send out a massive thank you to all of our regular customers who have stuck with us through some pretty difficult times – times when there weren’t many stalls every week; some awful weather such as that day in 2007 when it rained so hard all day long even the market umbrellas gave up and the rain just started seeping through; or those winter’s days when we had to scrape the snow back before setting up. Without regular customers markets can’t survive, so thank you!

Those hard old days will all be forgotten this Sunday, however, as we celebrate with an enormous cake from Glamorose cakes, which we will be cutting at 11.30am and sharing with customers and stallholders, music from the Tramp On The Bench and local folk group Splat The Rat, street entertainers and jugglers, the presentation of the hamper prize draw winner and, of course, 20 stalls selling a variety of fresh produce and street food for your delectation, including Kelsmor Dairy Ice Cream and the return of Lovett Pies, as well as a selection of local craftspeople.
