WHAT’S IT LIKE?
Previously known as The Kings Arms it is one of the grand old buildings of Swindon. It opened in the 1830s when it was owned by miller John Godwin. His windmill stood at the back of the building must dominating the local landscape. It underwent major refurbishments in March 2002 and 2012. The Kings is now all at once a pub, hotel and a centre for functions,a wedding receptions, conferences and seminars.
WHO GOES THERE?
At the heart of Old Town, 20 at The Kings offers something for everyone – day or night. The downstairs bars alternately attract Old Town business people for lunch and lively, younger people in the evenings. All can wallow in the vintage surroundings of a 19th century inn which has lost none of its old-fashioned grandeur. It still looks as if it might have been the model for one of the venues in a Thomas Hardy novel.
