Jan Wojtowicz, 51, Thai masseur and owner Wood Street Wellbeing in Old Town

Do you cook a lot yourself? What is your failsafe dish?

Yes, I love cooking, it’s a huge passion.

Everyone loves my peppered beef in red wine (thanks, Delia Smith) but my cakes are always popular, especially my carrot cake (based on my mum’s recipe from the 60s but spiced up a bit) and a very indulgent chocolate and peanut butter cake.

I also love real bread so make my own and love making jams, chutneys and even make my own salami and cured meats.

Where do you like to eat out? How often?

Working in Old Town I am a bit spoilt and probably eat out about once every month or two. Favourites are Biplob Indian, Los Gatos, El Toro and 20 at the Kings.

What do you always hope to find on a menu? For starter? Main course? Dessert?

Fish and cheese. I don’t eat much meat at all but do love fish, cheese and vegetarian food. Starter would be goat’s cheese tart, main would be some nice, simply cooked fish and a salad and for dessert either cheese or sticky toffee pudding and custard.

Which foods did you hate as a child? Do you eat them now?

I’m one of those people who has never hated any foods and I’ve eaten some weird things in my life like dried insects and grubs – and chicken foot curry in Thailand.

What is your favourite drink? Alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

Any ale served at The Hop Inn as the quality is second to none, or a cup of strong tea.

Marmite: yes or no?

Love it... occasionally.

What is your guilty pleasure when it comes to food... something you know you shouldn’t eat, but do anyway?

Butter. Toast and butter (loads of it) and homemade jams on a Sunday are a ritual in our house.

You are on your own at home watching a film. What is you snack of choice?

Nuts. I love them – salted, fresh or in their shells.

You’re eating a bacon sandwich...ketchup, brown sauce or nothing at all?

Ketchup please... and some chilli sauce as well if I can.
