Market manager Kardien Gerbrands talks about Swindon farmers' markets

DURING the busier shopping part of the year it has been very difficult to drive to the Designer Outlet due to the queues of traffic waiting to park in the North car park which is right next to the farmers’ market.

Many of our regular customers have found that trying to arrive at the market during the middle of the day can mean queuing for 30 minutes just to park.

Thankfully at this time of year this isn’t an issue as the Outlet is not as busy, but for future reference you would find it much easier all round if you aimed to arrive at the market early.

The traffic build-up doesn’t happen until noon, even on peak days so getting there early means no queuing. Most stalls are ready to serve by 9.30am so why not come and see us early doors?

At this week’s market we have a new baker from Swindon starting at the market.

Tuga Pastries is based just a two-minute drive to the market at Cheney Manor and specialises in the famous Portuguese pastry, Pastel de Nata (Portuguese egg tart). Alongside these beauties they also make Tigeladas and Bola de Berlim.

All their products are made using local flours from Shipton Mill, free range eggs from Sherston and Berkely Dairy Milk.

Also in attendance this week is Vineyard Pottery, staunch market regulars who come three times in the month with their unique range of hand crafted ceramics. Anything from a mug to full dinner services are available. Come and see from 10am to 4pm this Sunday!
