If you are a pasta connoisseur and ever dream of having fresh, artisanal pasta delivered to your front door, then Pasta Evangelists might be just what you are looking for.

London-based Pasta Evangelists is now posting boxes of pasta and a range of fresh pasta sauces to Swindon homes. It was launched in 2017 and has the backing of food gurus Prue Leith, Giles Coren and Masterchef critic William Sitwell. They are all co-founders and official Pasta Evangelists.

Each Pasta Evangelists box includes freshly handmade pasta, an authentic Italian sauce, special garnishes and instructions on how to prepare the dish in minutes.

Ever keen to sample something new, we put Pasta Evangelists to the test – and received a delivery of tagliatelle with wild garlic pesto and pickled leeks, and beef girasoli with burro e salvia and toasted hazlenuts.

This is not takeaway food in the usual sense of the word as you still have to cook the dish, but we can not fault the quality of the meal. The tagliatelle is tender, the wild garlic pesto fresh. My meat-eating Adver colleague Tom says the girasoli was delicious, bursting with a rich, flavoursome filling.

The company says it will reuse the boxes and chill packs if you order a second time, but still in these days of heightened awareness of single-use plastic, the amount of packaging for one meal is high. Servings cost around £6.75 to £8.95 each.

Pasta Evangelists say their chefs use only the finest seasonal ingredients and, whenever possible, Italian produce. All the pastas and the sauces are handmade in London, and dishes include best-sellers such as Pappardelle with Pork Stracotto and Cavolo Nero, Crab Tortelloni with a Crustacean Bisque, Malloreddus alla Campidanese, and Paccheri alla Norma.

A new menu is launched weekly, with a choice of five dishes, and the Pasta Evangelists specialise in bringing interesting new recipes from Italy’s 20 regions, including lesser-known specialities. You can choose between ordering a one-time-only box or take out a five or ten-week Pasta Club membership, with weekly deliveries of the finest dishes, reminiscent of a top pasta tasting menu.
