Cinderella’ is the famous rags to riches fairytale, and the story of CoCo and the Butterfields is the musical equivalent. The band moved from busking on street corners to playing sell-out shows in auditoriums seating thousands, in just two years.

The band play a mix of folk, pop and hip-hop. Their meteoric rise began as they became the UK’s best unsigned act, in 2012, beating off 10,000 wannabes for the crown in the UK Live and Unsigned national music competition.

The multi-instrumentalist band notched up fans in Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson from BBC 6 Music, and they have trod the same boards as Bastille, Seasick Steve, Wheatus and The Pogues.

This summer it is all about the festivals as the musicians play at Glastonbury, Boomtown Fair and Larmer Tree Festival. But before they load up their highly colourful tour van, named Ron, and set off for the great outdoors, the musicians are heading for Swindon.

On Thursday, April 24 a wall of sonic noise will hit the Arts Centre, when the band play violin, guitar, double bass, banjo and beatbox in a raucous riot of rhythm.

Also this summer CoCo and the Butterfields are launching their latest EP called See The Sun. They will be playing songs from the CD when they come to the Swindon theatre in Devizes Road, Old Town, from 8pm.Tickets are £10 and concessions £8 on 01793 614837. - Flicky Harrison
