Swindon DJ James Pound better known as DJ Burnout, is turning his hand from turntables to promotion. He is organising his first family-friendly dance music event at the County Ground Hotel in Swindon.

Summer Beats has 11 DJs, including Jada Funk, 2BADD and headliner DJ Eclipse, mixing up a musical potpourri of genres, at the hotel in County Road, on Saturday, July 26, from noon.

DJ Burnout has been on the decks for 15 years, building up a reputation in clubs and pubs across the South West, including residences in The Sir Daniel Arms in Swindon, The Mail Coach and Ellingtons. He has also played the SNI Fest for two years and nightclubs such as Liquid, Envy, E11even and The Studio.

He said: “I have chosen music from various genres to cater for a wide range of tastes. We have a bouncy castle in the garden for the kids up until 6pm, and a barbecue. Guys Hair Salon and Karoliina Saunders Hair Design are both putting on promotional offers including a free hair cut.’’ Summer Beats is a cool, laid-back affair, kicking off with James Parker playing garage music. This will be the first big event for James, aka DJ Jimmy Jim, and he is looking forward to showcasing his skills.

“I am extremely excited and pleased to have been offered this opportunity. I will be playing a wide range of music,” he said.

Also on the bill is DJ and MC 2BADD who has been playing in Swindon and all over the UK since 1997, playing alongside some top names in the dance world such as Westward and Charlie Sloth, Brockie and JME. He will play jungle, hip hop and house music.

Many Swindon club music fans will recognise the dulcet tones of Rob Jones from his radio podcast on Future Visions Radio. He performs beside DJ Burnout in the County Ground Hotel residency.

Trance music fan DJ Lee Carhart, from Newquay in Cornwall, will be playing electro house and club classics, and the headliner, Julian Hogan, DJ Eclipse, will be dropping some house, drum ‘n’ bass and hip hop beats. DJ Eclipse is the voice behind Fresh Beats on Swindon 105.5 radio on Sundays from 11pm to midnight. He has had a number of residencies in and around Swindon and a spell Down Under in Snake Pit, Australia.

He said: “I have been influenced by an eclectic range, listening to reggae, Motown and classical music from my sister playing the piano as a child. Today I am motivated by local musicians and dance anthems throughout time.’’ For more, call 01793 423343.
