The Swindon music scene lends its backing to a number of charities, but there is one support group that is close to the hearts of many musicians thanks to young Morgan Sharp.

Morgan has Goldenhar Syndrome which broadly speaking means bone abnormalities in the face, and in some cases involves a tracheotomy. Morgan is the grandson of Alan Holmes, from Holmes music who is a huge support to the musicians in the town.

Morgan makes regular guest appearances at his grandfather’s events helping to raise awareness of the Goldenhar Family Support Group Swindon.

In the next few weeks there are three special gigs all in aid of the charity including The Stars from The Commitments, Tin Spirits with XTC’s Dave Gregory and Old Town Live 3 with The Teddy White Band.

On Thursday, September 25 The Rotary Club of Swindon present Old Town Live 3 at The Kings in Wood Street from 7.30pm. Also on the bill will be Charlie Anne and Louise Latham and ticket are £5 from 07876 560765.

The following evening at The Vic in Victoria Road, Tin Spirits will be supported by Steve Grimmett from Grim Reaper and the gig begins at 8pm. Tickets are £5 in advance and £6 on the door. For more details call 01793 535713.

And the third gig in the Goldenhar fundraising trio is at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre when The Stars From The Commitments take to the stage. Tickets are from £20.50 on 01793 524481.

Goldenhar Family Support Group aims to put families, with children who have the syndrome, in touch with each other, send out regular newsletters, pass on advice and new information about Goldenhar and offer practical support where possible.
