Talk in Code by Swindon’s own indie rock band Talk In Code
This is an album that is smooth as silk and gleaming like polished satin wood. Straight off the blocks is Limitless a meticulously crafted harmonic rock song with clean, sharp vocals and poetic visions. The track launches a gallery of vibrant paintings in words and sound in this CD.
Make It Happen is an inspirational song, strong, powerful and the ideal soundtrack for big deeds, adventure and extreme sports, while Stand is an anguished cry of despair echoeing in vocals and guitar. We Remain has drama and passion aplenty with cymbals and strings falling in a crescendo of nebulous notes. A guitar solo with depth and sincerity blasts through Catapult, and Face To Face is a dream of a song, soaring unleashed through the stratosphere.
Every album needs a sunny song and Another Reason, despite the sad lyrics, has a tune that runs barefoot in the grass of early summer.
The whole album is a swing-boat of melody, rock guitar rolling with the waves over quick silver vocals, slicing and dicing drums and majestic keys all with such attention to detail.
But the best is kept to last as the delightful love song, Place In Time, sprinkles its stardust for a finale, leaving us wanting more from this hard working band. - Flicky Harrison
