Martyn Joseph is on the road again. Touring, gigging and writing his crafted songs are all a journey for the singer/songwriter and this autumn he is making tracks to Faringdon’s Corn Exchange, on a return visit.

For the past 30 years this troubadour has been plying his trade, completing 31 albums and more than half a million record sales, with his mix of folk, rock, funk and Americana both in the UK and Europe.

His latest album is a very personal affair, reflecting the hobo existence of travelling, in Songs For The Coming Home.

He said: “At the heart of this record is the notion that we are always striving to return.

“Returning to a place of solace, understanding, compassion, a place of justice, mercy and peace. That despite the carnage around us we can still save the day.”

Martyn is a storyteller at heart and weaves his tales around his own principals and belief in social justice. He paints portraits of people in song and understands the frailty of human nature in all its forms.

Martyn said: “Really what I do is to try to write songs that might step up and make some sense of a moment in time. A good song makes you feel like you’re not alone in the world.”

The singer has toured with the likes of Art Garfunkel, Jools Holland, Ani DiFranco, Suzanne Vega, Mike and The Mechanics, Joan Armatrading, Celine Dion and Shirley Bassey but on Saturday, November 29 Martyn will be performing his own headline gig in Faringdon from 8pm and tickets are £15, available from wegottickets.com – Flicky Harrison
