Glitterbug by The Wombats, out now on Warner Brothers.

This new album feels like it is bathed in sunshine with echoes from the past mingling with the sharp edgy twists of the here and now.

Emoticons is the first sunny offering of this summer romance, flowing effortlessly into the hit single Give Me A Try with its hand-holding on a sandy beach feel.

Isabel is the ballad love song and Your Body Is A Weapon was chosen by Zane Lowe, formerly of BBC Radio One, as one of his hottest 100 records of the year, a real scorched pavement sizzler.

Greek Tragedy is hitting the highs of catching the big wave and surfing the guitar riffs of rock.

Be Your Shadow is more of a dance track with a clubbing beat, while Headspace is the morning after the night before. It is a softer more inward looking song. It's sipping coffee on a pavement cafe and looking inwards to define what is pure gold and what is superficial glitter.

Pink Lemonade is back with a frothy pop beat, while An English Summer reflects poignant memories of lost love buried by an avalanche of sound, a rock army manning up to an anthemic climax.

Curve ball completes the circle giving us the soundtrack to the summer of 2015. Glitterbug is an album of deep issues shot through with bright sun rays. - Flicky Harrison
