SWINDON rock band A Way With Words are Going Over The Top this year with a new single, a new album and a free gig in their home town.

The musicians' first six-track EP, Now or Never, was well received when it came out last year.

Now their single and first video - Over The Top - has just been released, and their debut album, Reflections, is also out now on iTunes. The album was produced by Andy Rowland of Gatehouse Studios.

The band are Antony Willis, lead guitar and lead singer, Doug Smith, guitar and second lead vocals, James Rowland, bass guitar and Matt Morris on drums.

The guys got together in 2013 with Doug joining last year.

The boys notched up a headline gig at Level nightclub in Swindon, a place on the bill with SN Dub Station at a charity gig and local festival slots at Riffstock and Radstock.

The music is big brash and bold, mirroring the musicians love for rock maestros such as the Foo Fighters, Fall Out Boy, Green Day, Deaf Havana and You Me At Six. Yet their style is tempered by a melodic calm running through the storming riffs.

The highlight so far for the band was a slot playing at Wychwood Festival’s 10th anniversary last year, opening the main stage for The Boomtown Rats, Newton Faulkner, the Stranglers and The Levellers.

A Way With Words will play a free gig on Thursday, July 16, 8pm at The Vic, Victoria Road, Old Town as part of the Swindon Shuffle 2015. For more details call 01793 535713.
