It is 50 years since Pink Floyd unleashed their first record of trance rock on an unsuspecting world.

To mark that special moment in prog rock time, Think Floyd have created a whole new show spanning the decades with echoes of the prog rock giants’ music from all 15 albums. The musicians will be bringing the new show to Swindon this month.

They play tracks from The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, The Wall and finally The Endless River backed by a full scale laser light show.

The lighting and sound engineers are as much a part of the team creating the theatrical production as the current band line-up of: Lewis Hall on bass, Richard Morse on guitar, Steven Farmer on drums and Kirk McLeod on keyboards.

Think Floyd started out as a covers band playing a mix of songs in the pubs and clubs of London in the 1990s, including requests. Comfortably Numb was asked for and the boys were stumped, but promised to learn it by the following week.

It went down a storm and became their encore number so they added more Pink Floyd tracks until eventually they were performing an evening once a week, devoted to the rock band. David Walker, a theatre promoter and huge Pink Floyd fan, saw them and snapped up the band to create a professional touring production.

In 2002 Think Floyd toured with The Wall and invited local school children to join them on stage and last year they marked the 40th anniversary of Wish You Were Here.

Think Floyd will be performing at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre on Saturday, January 21 from 7.30pm. Tickets are £25.50 and available from 01793 524481 or visit www.swindontheatres.co.uk.
