Andy Fairweather Low makes a welcome return to Swindon, this time bringing his full band with him.

The former Amen Corner lead singer carved a career after his 1960s fame as both a solo artist and session musician working with such luminaries as Roger Waters, Joe Satriani, The Who, while Pete Townshend was in rehab, Roy Wood, Leo Sayer, Gerry Rafferty, George Harrison and in 2015 he and the band were the opening act for Eric Clapton’s 70th Birthday tour. Over the last few years Andy Fairweather Low and the Low Riders have toured with Eric Clapton all over Europe and in New York.

The Low Riders coming to Swindon with Andy are Dave Bronze on bass and vocals, Paul Beavis on drums and Nick Pentelow on sax and clarinet.

Andy had a string of top 10 hits including If Paradise Is Half As Nice which went to number one in 1969, and Wide Eyed and Legless which zoomed into number six at Christmas time in 1975. He was a pin-up pop idol of the late 1960s, but when Amen Corner split in 1970, Andy formed a new band called Fairweather, with Dennis Byron on drums, Blue weaver on organ, Clive Tayor on bass and Neil Jones on guitar. They notched up a UK singles chart hit with Natural Sinner at number six before Andy decided to try his hand as a solo singer/guitarist.

On Saturday March 4 Andy will be playing from 7.30pm at the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon and tickets are £24 from 01793 524481 or visit www.swindontheatres.co.uk - Flicky Harrison
