THE next worldwide singing sensation could be discovered in Swindon this week as the X Factor auditions return to town.

Budding singers hoping to be the next One Direction, Leona Lewis or Jahmene Douglas are invited to audition for the ITV talent show in the Parade this Wednesday.

The auditions, will kick off at 11am and continue throughout the day until 6pm.

Although steely tongued music boss Simon Cowell won’t be making the trip to town, X Factor talent scouts will be on hand in hopes of spotting the superstars of tomorrow.

The potential stars will be interviewed by talent scouts before being asked to perform a song or two with the musical accompaniment of their choice.

X Factor talent scout Toyah Dann said the team were looking forward to seeing what talent the town had to offer.

She said: “We’re looking for star quality and someone who is a bit different. It doesn’t matter what kind of music they are into singing as long as they bring their own personality and flavour to the audition then we will be happy.

“We want somebody who is confident in themselves and their own ability and can have a bit of banter with us.

“They can bring a guitar or other musical instrument or whatever they’re comfortable with and just show us what they’re about as a singer, performer and entertainer.

“We fully appreciate how nerve-wracking the experience can be and we will do our best to make auditionees feel as comfortable as possible.”

And there is everything to play for in the first audition round with successful singers potentially sailing straight through to the nailbiting audition round in front of Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh. Others may be invited to perform in front of producers

And Swindon hopefuls will no doubt be hoping to follow in the footsteps of X Factor finalist and Gorse Hill crooner Jahmene Douglas who scored a number one album with Love Never Fails.

Toyah said: “I saw Jahmene’s audition and I thought he was absolutely brilliant. He is super talented so we are all excited about coming to Swindon to see what it has to offer.”
