FOLK singer Rosie Hood will be hoping to hit a high note for Cricklade wildlife charity Oak & Furrows next month when she hosts a special concert.

The 2016 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards nominee will be performing at The Vale of The White Horse pub in Minety on Saturday, March 18, from 8pm.

Having started learning traditional songs at an early age from her family, Rosie is now well known for her strong voice and engaging solo performance. She has a keen interest in the history of traditional songs, particularly those rooted in Wiltshire where she has spent time researching archives and developing a broad repertoire of local songs.

In addition to her solo performances she can also be seen performing lead vocals with The Dovetail Trio alongside Jamie Roberts and Matt Quinn, with whom she has performed at many of the country’s leading folk festivals and folk clubs.

This year she is also preparing to launch her first full-length solo album entitled The Beautiful and the Actual.

Rosie is hoping for a full house on March 18 to raise as much money for the charity as she can. Annually, the wildlife centre rescues more than 4,000 animals and receives in excess of 75,000 telephone calls for advice and information from members of the public.

Advance tickets costing £10 are available from Ray Hood on 07803 585954 or by emailing him at ray@ravintage.co.uk.
