MUSIC legend Joe Brown MBE will bring songs and stories of a life in music to the Wyvern Theatre tomorrow.

With a history that spans music hall, skiffle, rock’n’roll, theatre, films, television, radio and even circus (his grandfather performed with Buffalo Bill), Joe has deep roots in the history of music and entertainment.

He has traversed years and musical traditions, and is still a compelling performer. A musician’s musician, Joe has seen it all and his stories and jokes about life on the road are always entertaining.

Joe reached the charts in 1960 with The Darktown Strutters Ball and went on to have a host of hits with the Piccadilly Label in the early 60s, including A Picture of You, It Only Took a Minute and That’s What Love Will Do. He went on to write a music and present a radio show, and was awarded the MBE in 2009 for services to music.

Now for the first time ever, the new show will be just Joe – talking about his early days growing up in a pub in London’s East End, discovering skiffle, becoming a rock’n’roll pioneer and touring with stars such as Eddie Cochran, Billy Fury and Gene Vincent, before headlining shows with the Beatles as opening act.

US born guitarist Henry Gross will join Joe for music and songs.

He founded the chart-topping group Shah Na Nah, and was the youngest musician to play Woodstock.

Tickets for Just Joe, starring Joe Brown, at the Wyvern Theatre on Friday, are £28.50.
