Swindon Male Voice Choir will be hosting a concert to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation in Gorse Hill this weekend.

The concert is being staged at St Barnabas Church on Saturday at 7.30pm. Alongside the male voice choir, it will feature a variety of musicians, a soloist, a duet and a story teller, providing a varied evening of entertainment.

The concert was motivated by John Southey, a former bass singer with the choir who has since moved to Hertfordshire, who had family members affected by mental health issues.

The issues impacted not only those family members directly, but also their wider family. The Mental Health Foundation supported the whole family throughout the period.

His family are now seeking to fundraise for the foundation, efforts for which include running in this year’s London Marathon, as well as this Saturday’s concert.

The Mental Health Foundation are an active organisation with a wide reaching remit, which specialises in helping children, young people and families.

To mark the occasion, John and his family will be travelling down from Hertfordshire for the concert.

Tickets for the concert will cost £7.50, and they can be bought from Choir’s Ticket point on 01793 822495, or via email at swindonmalevoicechoir@msn.com.

Tickets will also be available at the door.
