What if we win Last Band Standing?

Q. Hi Andy,

We’re an unsigned band from Swindon and we’ve entered a National Competition for unsigned bands. There’s over 630 bands from across the whole UK that have entered, and we’re currently ranked in 10th place.

The prizes are huge and there’s an offer of a mini-recording contract on the table for the winners. Is there anything we should be cautious of, in the event of us winning?

Many thanks,

Damien Talk In Code http://www.lastbandstanding.co.uk/band.asp?band=484

A.
Howdy mister Damien. Don't know about being cautious in the event of winning as it's all a giant minefield. I would have thought the pain of losing/rejection/possible ridicule might have been more of a problem should you lose (people can remember the losers too). Still, there's always a name change in that eventuality.

Really the potential pitfalls are enormous if you are offered a record deal, too many to run down for you here, but the chance of a lifetime could be on offer so take it, innit. Just be brilliant and follow your hearts then you'll never have anything to feel sorry for. Do it all. AP
