Swindon’s R‘n’B band Built For Comfort have been booked to support Wilko Johnson in 2008. Lead singer Alec Adams said: “If it’s as enjoyable as the last time, we should be in for a good night.’ Alec is originally from the Isle of Wight and is an avid rugby union fan.
The band are all set to head for the recording studio to record their new CD ready for Christmas 2007. Harmonica player Billy Jones is also one of the leading lights in Built For Comfort. He was born in Swindon and jumped the trains at an early age to watch the London blues stars.
Billy got hooked on playing when he saw local band Hamsters From Hell, led by Ian Doeser, playing. He now has a library full of videos, books and records telling the story of the harmonica.
Billy has played with the likes of Morris Blind Mississippi Morris Cummings, Lazy Lester, Johnny Mars, Top Topham (The Yardbirds), Lighterthief, The Future Sound Of London and many others.
Joining Alec and Billy in the band are Barry Archer, Hammond organ and keyboard player and lifetime Swindon Town fan., Guitarist Dave Miller who played with The Beat Vendors and migrated to The Whispers and All Things Bright, both featuring Justin Hayward. John Inglesan is the led rhythm guitarist and Phil Tait, an ex Army bandsman is on drums.
