THE Town Gardens were full of song on Sunday afternoon as the Little Big Festival was officially launched.

Now in its third year, the event runs all summer and is an opportunity for artists from across Swindon to showcase their talents.

There are hopes a new sponsorship deal with Richard James will allow this year’s festival to be the biggest yet.

Over the course of the summer various acts will be putting shows which anyone can go to.

Josie Williams, who is one of the organisers, said: “The Little Big show is by the people of Swindon, for the people of Swindon.

“There is so much talent in the town which often does not get seen so this is a chance to show it off.

“Arts are important and while not everyone is going to be world-famous rock star, it is important we develop them.”

The launch event saw musicians from Commonweal School performing on the band stand while South Swindon MP Robert Buckland was also there.

He said: “I absolutely love the Little Big Festival. Not only is it great to see what Swindon has to offer but it supports and develops life skills.”
