Pour some whiskey in the jar, as the boys are back in town to mark the 21st anniversary of Limehouse Lizzy.

Wayne Ellis and Greg Alcock, whose passion for Thin Lizzy inspired them to create the tribute band, will be bringing their explosive, sometimes pyrotechnic, set to Swindon.

Wayne was not into rock music growing up in school, he was the only black kid in his class and grew up with roots, reggae and soul. He says all his pals were into rock so he took an interest. He learned to play bass and took six months of singing lessons.

But it was at 14-years of age that he became instantly enamoured with Thin Lizzy. He was at home eating his tea and watching TV.

He said: "I looked up at there was this black singer fronting a rock band. That was it for me, I've been hooked ever since.''

Wayne not only looks like Phil Lynott, who sadly died when he was just 36-years-old, but sounds and moves like the former lead singer of Thin Lizzy.

"He was a poet,'' said Wayne, "What he did was groundbreaking.''

For Greg it was being in contact with the band themselves that fired his passion for Thin Lizzy music. He had learned to play guitar from his brother Steve when he was 13, and became guitar techie for Brian Robertson from Think Lizzy.

Greg learned to play the intricate riffs of Live and Dangerous from the Thin Lizzy guitarist himself. Greg has rubbed shoulders with a number of top names in the business including Brian Downey, Eddie Tenpole, UFO, Diamond Head, The Quireboys and Terraplane.

Limehouse Lizzy have played all over the world including for Virgin Atlantic in Barbados and various TV appearances including the BBC 2 Arena programme.

One of their proudest moments on the music scene was being recruited to record and tour with original Thin Lizzy musicians.

Limehouse Lizzy will be choosing tracks from the Thin Lizzy catalogue which includes hits such as Sarah, Killer On The Loose, Jailbreak, Dancin' In The Moonlight, Whiskey In The Jar and The Boys Are Back In Town, when they perform at The Vic, Victoria Road, Old Town Swindon on Thursday May 11 from 7.30pm. Tickets are £12 from 01793 535713 http://www.thevicswindon.com/get/home - Flicky Harrison
