SOLO violinist Michael Bochmann, who toured the USA and Canada partnering Sir Yehudi Menuhin in Bach’s Double Violin Concerto, brings his love of Bach to a lunchtime concert in Swindon.
Michael Bochmann will be performing at the Wyvern Theatre on Wednesday October 11, from 1.05pm as part of the Swindon Recital Series.
Michael Bochmann established his career as leader of the Bochmann String Quartet in 1977 making more than 50 BBC radio and television appearances. He became concertmaster of the English String Orchestra and English Symphony Orchestra and now works mostly as a soloist and teacher.
As a student with Frederick Grinke at the Royal Academy of Music, Michael was a finalist and winner of the British Prize in the 1972 Carl Flesch International Violin Competition. A year later he was a prize winner in the Jacques Thibaud Competition in Paris. Soon after this he made his first solo broadcasts for the BBC and received lessons from Henryk Szeryng and Sandor Vegh.
Swindon Recital Series was founded 24 years ago by concert pianist Paul Turner with the aim of providing world-class chamber music in the Swindon area.
Paul said: "This season one of our themes for the whole series is J S Bach, various compositions will link the concerts and Michael will perform the famous Chaconne written for solo violin.''
Tickets to see Michael are £6, students £2.50, accompanied children 14 and under free. To book or for more details call 01793 524481 or visit www.swindontheatres.co.uk or www.swindonrecitalseries.org
